Heather Cabot talks about Perfect Moms Finish Last

Posted on January 25, 2010

23-279x300Us moms always derive some modicum of comfort from another mom busting open the facade and sharing her true feelings.  There’s so much of motherhood that’s never discussed, that’s kept under wraps because what would you think of me if you only knew. One of the reasons why I began the 20-person conversation that is the Perfect Moms Finish Last Interview Series is because it never fails: These revealing moments are few and far between, yet so powerful in bringing us closer to reality when it comes to our expectations of what we’re supposed to be as moms (and closer to one another at a time when we need each other most).

Heather Cabot, Yahoo! Web Life Editor and founder of The Well Mom, is willing to “go there” in her fantastic interview with me, as well as on her website, where she talks about the series, and how her entire website evolved from her struggle to adapt to her new identity and life as a mom.

Her interview, like all the others, is available at no charge, and I hope it helps you fight “Perfect Mom Disorder” and brings you closer to the kind of mom you want to be. You can download Heather’s interview, along with the others at http://www.perfectmomsfinishlast.com.

The work I’ve done with Carley has been great. She helped me to not feel so guilty leaving my kids when I go to work, and manage my time there better. When I come home, I am much less overwhelmed, and I can really “be” with my kids. Everyone has noticed the difference, including my boss. Investing in Life Coaching was one of the smartest things I ever did as a working mother. — H. Gold, Mother of Two
